Reflections Skin Care

Botox® and Dysport® are used to inactivate some facial muscles. We use it mostly to fix the frown lines of the lower central forehead and crow’s feet. The medications are injected with very small needles. The treatment lasts three to six months. They are most effective with a continuing program of use. Side effects are very rare when done completely. All Botox® and Dysport® injections are done by Dr. Fahrner.

Hair Removal

We perform permanent hair reduction. We have the choice of using either pulsed light treatments or laser technology. Our choice is made based on body region and pigmentation of the patient. We have the capability to treat patients of all skin color. The treatments are quite effective, although no one can claim complete permanent hair removal. Treatment requires a series of treatments. Our fees are based on the time required, ranging from $150.00 to $250.00 per treatment with 3-5 treatments total.

Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion gently removes a layer of the dead dog layer of the skin. We use the Vibraderm device that doesn’t use aluminum powder. The process itself is without pain, and in fact is pleasant and relaxing. Microdermabrasion gives a smooth texture and promotes new collagen growth. We often use microdermabrasion before laser treatments to make them more effective and efficient.

Leg Veins

We use our laser to treat spider veins. These are the fine veins seen usually from the mid-thigh down to the ankles. We can treat a few veins or larger patches. We generally schedule sessions of 30-60 minutes. The reabsorption of the veins takes 4-8 weeks, so plan treatments well in advance of spring and summer. The treatments are more effective and safer when skin is not tan. We do not treat varicose veins in the dermatology department. After our leg vein laser treatments, we only ask you to not exercise the day of and the day after treatment.

Titan

The Titan procedure tightens the skin. It uses gentle heating of the skin to cause the collagen to contract. Titan can remove the laxity and looseness of the skin of the face, neck, abdomen, in fact virtually anywhere on the body. It is very useful for the loose facial skin of aging and abdominal skin after childbirth. It is noninvasive, and not painful. A series of 2 or 3 treatments are best. Results last about a year. This treatment has no downtime.

Facial Veins

The broken facial blood vessels associated with chronic sun exposure are a noticeable photo aging finding. These are readily treated with a combination of our laser and pulsed light systems. Downtime is generally only a day or so. Pain is mild. The fee varies with the time required. For limited vessels the fee is $200.00.

Genesis

The Genesis treatment is a mild diffuse facial warming done with the laser. It is quite comfortable. We use it to decrease diffuse redness, such as seen with rosacea. It also helps stimulate new collagen production. For this reason we combine it with the Titan procedure to tighten skin by increasing the body’s production of new collagen.

Fillers

One of the features of aging is loss of some of the fullness and thickness of the facial skin and subcutaneous fat. Restoring fullness can reverse some of the signs of aging. Different commercially available fillers have properties that make them useful in different locations. We mostly use Restylane®, Cosmoderm®, Perlane®, Radiesse®, and Sculptra®. They last from 5 months to over a year, requiring retreatment. We can restore lip fullness, correct down turned corners of lips, fullness of cheeks, and so on. We use only FDA approved fillers. We use topical anesthetic to decrease the pain of the treatments. By definition, all fillers are put in place by injections. Side effects include temporary swelling and local bruises. Cost depends on the volume necessary and the product used. Typical fees vary from $250.00 to $800.00.

Limelight

Our IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) system can treat the discoloration seen on sun-exposed skin of face, neck, chest, hands, arms, and legs. We can adjust the setting to decrease or eliminate the brown or red discoloration. We can treat rather broad areas quickly. The pulses sting a little. The process usually takes 2 or more treatments. We charge $200.00 to remove the brown spots from hands, as an example.

Pearl

The Pearl treatment is used to do a full-face rejuvenation of the skin. Laser pulses heat the epidermis, causing a peeling process that removes pigment abnormalities, reduces pore size and makes he skin more translucent and smooth. We use topical anesthetic, making the treatment comfortable. We can treat the entire face, eyelids, and neck. This procedure gives much more dramatic results than glycolic and salicylic peels. The post treatment course requires 4 to 6 days for the redness and dryness to resolve. It feels much like having a sunburn. Some patients need two Pearl treatments, some improve with just one. The first Pearl treatment is $1,000.00, $800.00 if a second is needed.

Cosmetic Mole Removal

Many insurance companies will not pay to have moles removed unless it is clearly medically necessary. We can surgically remove a variety of benign skin growth with a variety of methods. We determine the fee based on size, location, number, and so on. As with all surgical treatment, post-op wound care by the patient is required, and often a follow-up visit to check the result.

Retin A – Hydroquinone Therapy

Our skin care products that contain tretinoin (Retin A®) and hydroquinone have years of safety and effectiveness data. The tretinoin can remove fine lines. The hydroquinone can lighten pigment spots and irregularities. They work together synergistically to lighten skin tone, firm the skin, and give a younger glow.
